Actueur is a three-part performative text by Portuguese playwright, poet and composer ÁLVARO GARCÍA DE ZÚÑIGA.

 

        The text delves into themes of construction of self, deconstruction of self and language. These themes gave me the initial idea of the work. My main aim was to protect the text's narrative because it was already innovative. Metaphorically, I characterized two performers as Actueur’s inner and outer thoughts; sometimes they match and sometimes move separately. The author also used a lot of wordplay in the text. He cuts up words and combines them, using the same words with several meanings in a successive row. Thus, I decided to create rhythmical nursery rhymes for these structures.
