Endophasia

ENDO_Afiş_Final_Baskı_QR.jpg

ENDOPHASIA is based on the recovery journey of Sinan Uygun, who, following a brain hemorrhage in 2010, continued his life with partial paralysis and aphasia. The project incorporates artificial intelligence technologies and interdisciplinary art activities, utilizing customized language and speech exercises. Under the guidance of his daughter, Gökçe Uygun, Sinan engages in physical and verbal exercises, including mirroring, repetition-based facial expressions, motor movements, and word formation, supported by language-based AI applications. This performance documents Sinan's progress step-by-step, offering a live experience of how the human brain and speech centers function.

The performance presents a glimpse into the linguistic challenges faced by an aphasic individual in daily life and moments of inner speech that they cannot fully express. It explores the brain's recovery process, the internal reflections of language-based challenges, and the communication skills and experiences of individuals through the lens of neuro-linguistics.
